Whether or not you live in the care of Asian parents or not, there is no denying that all Asian moms share the same habit — non-stop nagging.
It especially drives us kids crazy when our moms just keeps saying the same thing over and over again…
“Ah Boy, you got drink enough water? Go drink now, ”
“Girl ah, can’t you do something else? Your eyes always glued to your phone one,”
“Can you keep all your things on the table? You’re so messy! And you wonder why I’m always *geram with you, ”
Just today, I was behind the wheel with my mom sitting at the passenger’s seat. She didn’t stop lecturing me about road safety and kept pointing at my faults etc. I was so annoyed I almost got into a car accident.
“Wehh, why you drive so fast? You’re an F1 driver meh?”
“You don’t even know how to parallel park? What did they teach you at driving school? Or is it that you didn’t listen?! ”
“WEN, YOU DIDN’T SEE THE MOTORCYCLE AT THE SIDE AH? YOU WANT ME TO DIE SO SOON ARH?!! ”
Now that I’m going to leave the nest soon, I suddenly feel sad, and I’ll probably miss my mom’s stern lectures (possible Stockholm syndrome? Just kidding). I know that mom always means well when she scolds and nags me. I’m still ever grateful to have such a mom like her. Even if she is an Asian mom 😝

*geram means angry/mad in Malay 😆
